Department of Oil and Gas Refining
The Department of Oil and Gas Refining Engineering was established in 2010 (1431 AH) as one of the pioneering departments in Iraqi universities, specializing in the processing and refining of petroleum products after their extraction from underground reservoirs, as well as in petrochemical industries. The department commenced its academic activities by admitting approximately 52 male and female students, and has since graduated ten successive cohorts.
In the academic year 2018–2019, the department’s name was officially changed from Petroleum Process Engineering to Oil and Gas Refining Engineering, following revisions to the curriculum to more directly serve the crude oil refining sector and to enhance the quality of petroleum products.
