Duties of the Stores Unit

Storage Management:

  • Safekeeping and storing laboratory and engineering materials and supplies in accordance with scientific methods.
  • Organizing and updating records of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Classifying materials according to type, usage, and expiration date (if applicable).

Receipt of Materials and Equipment:

  • Receiving materials and equipment from suppliers based on purchase orders.
  • Verifying received items against purchase invoices or shipping lists.
  • Inspecting the condition of received items and ensuring compliance with specifications.

Issuance of Materials:

  • Issuing materials to departments or laboratories based on official requests.
  • Preparing and documenting issuance records to facilitate tracking and inventory control.

Periodic Inventory:

  • Conducting periodic and comprehensive inventory checks to ensure that actual stock matches recorded balances.
  • Preparing inventory reports and submitting them to the concerned authorities.

Materials Organization:

  • Arranging materials within the stores to ensure easy access and safe storage.
  • Disposing of damaged or expired materials in accordance with official regulations.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Ensuring proper storage conditions (ventilation, humidity control, cleanliness, etc.).
  • Following up on the maintenance of stored equipment and devices when necessary.

Committee Participation:

  • Taking part in committees for receipt, inventory, or disposal of materials when officially assigned.

Report Preparation:

  • Preparing monthly or quarterly reports on the condition of stores, available materials, and future requirements.
