Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Prof. Waad Mahmood Raouf, and under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamad Abdullah, Dean of the College of Petroleum Operations Engineering, the College of Petroleum Operations Engineering, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at the University Presidency and the Community Police Department / Anti-Rumors Unit of the Salah al-Din Police Command, organized an awareness seminar entitled:
“Rumors and Their Impact on Society”
on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The seminar aimed to shed light on the dangers of the spread of rumors in society and their negative effects on social and intellectual security, as well as their role in creating confusion and undermining trust in institutions. It also discussed methods for limiting the spread of rumors and ways to verify information before sharing it, in addition to addressing the role of security authorities and academic institutions in promoting community awareness.
The seminar presentations were delivered by: Lt. Col. Dr. Baha’a A’ed Abdulla Captain Dahham Mohy Al-Din (Community Police Department – Salah al-Din Prof. Dr. Khalid Ali Saleh (College of Arts – Tikrit University) The seminar included discussions with attendees on the most common rumors circulating within society and ways to confront them, as well as providing awareness guidelines to students and university staff regarding the proper use of social media.
