A Faculty Member from Our College Chairs a Master's Thesis Defense
Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Assi Hussein participated as the chair of the master’s thesis defense committee at the Northern Technical University, which examined the thermal insulation performance of a composite insulating material produced from waste materials. The Technical Engineering College in Mosul reviewed the technical master’s thesis in Refractory Engineering Technologies, entitled: “Thermal Insulation Performance of an Insulating Composite Material Made from Waste Materials.”
The thesis, submitted by the researcher Omar Mowaffaq Yahya, focused on studying and evaluating the thermal insulation performance of composite insulators produced using paper, plastic, and wood waste in various compositions. The thesis aimed to achieve both environmental and economic benefits by reducing accumulated landfill waste and transforming it into valuable resources through the production of eco-friendly insulation materials characterized by efficient thermal insulation and suitable mechanical resistance for construction applications at low cost—supporting sustainability in the building sector. The thesis recommended encouraging the use of solid waste in production processes to reduce environmental pollution and convert waste into valuable resources.
The examination committee consisted of:
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Assi Hussein – Chair
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Harith Maher Abd – Member
- Asst. Prof. Firas Aziz Ali – Member
- Lecturer Dr. Omar Abdulhadi Mustafa – Member
